This is the first ad to be run for finding volunteers.
Discussions took place over September, and preparations made. The plan is to run a cheap ad, on Facebook and Instagram, directed at Iranian-Americans. The initial run will be only a test-ad. For now, we are awaiting the completion of an Authorization step by Meta.
There are far too many details to record here. As everything happened _prior_ the the creation of the forum, the details would have to be copied into this Topic; but, I have no such time. Future Tasks' discussions will take place on-forum.
Note: Initially, the Audience for this was to be Iranian-Canadians in Toronto (TO)--which would have constituted a good, initial test-market. But, as the ad is to run as AAIRIA, and that is an American NGO, we encountered some strictures by the Meta corporation.
Full disclosure: As with this site itself, the cost of the ad will be paid by AAIRIA's Lawdan.

The Creative
By 13 September, an image was created, for use in the ad. It resulted from days spent on looking for base-images, and many hours spent on the editing application called gimp. A mock-up of the final ad was approved by Lawdan.
Waiting for Meta's letter
Before running such an ad, Meta (ie Facebook and Instagram) demanded verification of the identity behind AAIRIA. Though documents have been submitted, the part of the process which involves a letter sent from Meta to Lawdan is still awaiting the arrival of Meta's letter.
Therefore, we are waiting for Meta!

Still Waiting for Meta's letter
Still waiting! It's been 2 weeks.omid wrote: ↑Thu 03 Oct, 2024 2:29 pm Before running such an ad, Meta (ie Facebook and Instagram) demanded verification of the identity behind AAIRIA. Meta Letter arrived
Reportedly, the Meta letter arrived. So, we should be able to complete the Authorization process with Meta...today...hopefully!
Meta Authorization incomplete
The code in Meta's letter was applied, but then Meta's software asked some poorly composed verifications. The result is further delay, with a request for a notarized letter! It never ends!
Meta Authorization complete
Lawdan got, and sent, the notary form which Meta demanded as proof of her address. So, now, finally, the Meta Authorization process has completed. We should now be able to run ads, in the US, on political and social issues.
I'll review the notes on this first ad. Hopefully, it will be launched today. Fingers crossed!

Further restrictions on political ads.
The problems never end!
Per regulations, there rightly are restrictions on ads which have to do with politics and "social issues". Meta (ie facebook) presents more than expected. They leave us entangled in the infinite maze of algorithms and automated processes which fail to handle all possibilities. After 8 hours--spent only today--we have to wait for (one hopes) a human to look at this. If that progresses, then we'll enjoy the privilege of starting all over again, to take another stab at it.
So, at least a few more days' wait+work lies ahead.
