Sticky: The Task List

Post by omid »

Updated: Wednesday 2 October 2024

This is where you can find the task list for the Mahsa Act project.
The project will be worked-on in this forum.
Mahsa Act targets Iran's Supreme Leader, key officials, and entities, imposing various sanctions. Specific focus is placed on the abuses that followed Amini's death.
The Act mandates Congress to oversee the implementation of these sanctions. The President is required to report to Congress annually, on the applicable individuals, and to justify any waivers granted.
We need to exert pressure on the US Administration to implement and enforce this legislation. For this, we need a large number of volunteers.

The original document was here.
The original description of the Mahsa Act project was here.

Redefining the Task States

Post by omid »

Currently, Task States are
Unassigned, Assigned, Started, Ongoing, Paused, Completed, Postponed, Cancelled.

But, it may turn out (and, arguably, it perhaps ought to be) that volunteers will come-and-go on an ad hoc basis. That is, instead of accepting _assignment_, people will just post a contribution without being tied to a Task at all; in other words, a patch, rather than full implementation.

Yes, frequently, someone will have to put all of these patches together, in the same manner that _I_ had to do the precis for the Summary Task, MA4. But, that will be fine; and other Finishers may arise. (Finishers would be people who put all the patches together, to form a final result for the completion of the task. I expect that they will sift thru the entire Topic, to pick the fruits.)

What's the difference between Paused & Postponed?
More to the point, what is Paused?
... For now, I think we should skip it. While a need might arise later, simplicity suggests that we ought to skip it until its need becomes manifest.

Tasks designated as Postponed can be put back on the Future queue (which are all the tasks which are not yet seeking volunteers). If a need arises, we can use the state-name at that time.

I'll try the following States:
  • Open: Anything that is seeking volunteers, or is being worked on.
  • Completed: Results achieved, and put together by Finishers.
  • Cancelled: Cancelled, for whatever reason.
  • Future: Not yet seeking volunteers, or no-one should currently be working on it.
  • Ongoing: Finding new volunteers is a perpetual task.
